Get Involved

There are a lot of ways to get involved in anti-RNC, anti-authoritarian work:

  1. COME TO A MEETING! The RNC Welcoming Committee’s meetings are open to anyone who agrees to our Points of Unity. Meetings are EVERY SUNDAY, alternating 1:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., in Minneapolis. Email rnc08(a)riseup.net for the location. Every 3rd Sunday, newcomers are invited to an orientation a half-hour before the meeting starts. Check the calendar in our sidebar to see where we’re at in the rotation, or email rnc08 (a) riseup.net. Please note that we try to arrange childcare for all meetings, but would appreciate a heads up if you plan to bring kids, so that we can guarantee appropriate accommodations.
We DO NOT allow members of the Media, acting in that capacity, to attend WC meetings. If you are a member of the Media, looking for info on the WC, please see our “Media FAQ.
  2. JOIN OUR ANNOUNCEMENTS LIST. Email rnc08-subscribe (a) lists.riseup.net to add yourself. Watch for events to attend, and calls for volunteers.
  3. START STOCKPILING OR SENDING US ITEMS ON OUR WISHLIST. Bikes and bike parts, medic supplies, food and cooking supplies and anything else you can think of- we don’t have much storage space right now but come convention time, we’ll need all the gear we can get. This list will be frequently updated.
  4. FUNDRAISE! Pulling these protests off will require substantial financial resources, for everything from maintaining convergence centers to buying needed supplies to providing jail and legal support to our comrades. Set up a house show, have a bake sale, marry somebody rich- do whatever you can, cause every little bit helps.
  5. TALK TO YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY AND NEIGHBORS! The RNC is bad news for pretty much everyone, and the success of the protests depends on developing strong networks of resistance. Discuss the convention, what it means for our communities, and ways to work against it, with the people you know. Engage with them both to educate and to learn, keeping in mind the centrality of mutual aid in the anarchist ethos. 6. CHECK OUT OUR LINKS PAGE for a list of other local and national groups to hook up with.
  7. ATTEND A STRATEGIZING SESSION OR CONSULTA. Click here for a list of upcoming events elsewhere. Don’t see anything in your area? Set something up yourself! Any the events or groups listed, such as Unconventional Action, provides a great model for doing this.
  8. KEEP YOUR EYES AND EARS OPEN for any logistical information- about the convention, related events, and responsible parties- that might help us plan and strategize more effectively.
  9. CONTACT US with your questions, input and proposals.
