Welcoming Committee Announces Solidarity With Everglades Earth First Action

On the morning of February 18th 2008, a depressing stretch of asphalt in Palm Beach County Florida became the site of beautiful resistance. The Everglades Earth First engaged in direct action to prevent construction of the West Palm Beach County Energy Center, a power plant which will heavily pollute our air. For six hours they stood defiant, locked hand in hand against those who would destroy our planet for monetary gain. A long line of construction vehicles stood immobile under the Florida sun, hiding behind the shields of corporate bodyguards sometimes referred to as “the police”.

The RNC Welcoming Committee is in solidarity with Everglades Earth First and their use of direct action in defense of our common and sacred environment.
